Our members have amazing skills which they share with the County, week in week out.
We know that many of our dedicated volunteers have the inspiration and motivation to step up and lead Bristol & South Gloucestershire.
- Could it be you?
- Could it be you and a friend?
- Could it be you and a group of people who bring a range of skills to the role?

Bristol & South Gloucestershire is looking for a County Commissioner, joint CCs or a group of people who want to divide the role according to their skills and availability.
Anyone over 18 can be a County Commissioner. What’s most important in the role are personal qualities: things like being open and approachable and a good communicator.
Help is at hand!
CCs get training and mentor support. And in BSG we are lucky enough to have 2 paid members of staff who handle much of the behind-the-scenes organisation required to run the County.
Your DCs and Trustees are on hand to assist too, as well as a host of volunteers with County roles.
Meetings, meetings, meetings…
Yes, there are meetings to attend BUT there are only 3 per year you must be at in person and this could be even fewer if the CC role is shared. You can also delegate meetings or attend by video.
Five years, really?
This is the usual term for CCs but it doesn’t have to be! This can be adjusted to suit you, but we would expect a commitment for a minimum of 3 years.
BSG is a GREAT County!
Our acting CCs Sarah and Di have been incredibly impressed with the way BSG operates – and they will be part of the handover team supporting the new CC.
