War Horse Memorial competition - congratulations!

1st Hawkesbury Upton Guides took part in the War Horse Memorial competition and have received the below from Girlguiding Headquarters

Thank you so much for entering your unit into our competition to name the bronze horse that will form part of the War Horse Memorial.

There were almost 100 entries but our judging panel absolutely loved your Guides’ suggestion, Poppy. The girls had clearly put a lot of thought into it, and our judges thought it was the perfect tribute to the horses, mules and donkeys that died in World War One.

We’re really pleased to let you know that you’ve won the competition – congratulations! We’d like to invite you and your unit to the unveiling of the War Horse Memorial in Ascot on Friday 8 June. As part of the trip, you’ll also get to meet Susan Leyland, the sculptor who created the memorial, and Sophie Christiansen CBE, a Paralympian who was on the judging panel.
